Explore ❔ Psychology 🧠

I miss the upside-down pineapple cake that Chase made last week, the cake I didn’t think I’d want to eat until he made it.

Meaning Making 👁 A Fascination

Back when I posed one of my fundamental research questions—”What is consciousness?”—I linked to a YouTube video by AtheneWins. While I wouldn’t call this documentary a solid end-all for a person’s exploration into their consciousness, I think it works as an excellent diving board into deeper questions, into deeper research and self-exploration.

One of the concepts the video brings up is the split or double-consciousness of the brain; that is, the independent processes within our left and right hemispheres.

This takes me back to Jill Bolte Taylor’s description of her stroke, and the wonders of our two hemispheres; safe to say, I’ve always been fascinated by this topic.

Listing 🤓 3 Other Psych Professionals Worth Exploring

In addition to Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, intellectual, neuroanatomistThis YouTube would work really well in conjunction with her other TED talk about her stroke, as part of the unit on success in my rhetoric class, after they turn in their essays on technology…:

These other psychology experts interest me, too:

  1. Kati Morton, a practicing therapist who’s also very active on YouTube; she has excellent, practical videos on mental healthAnd her eyes remind me of my friend, Angela!; I respect the conversations she’s opened about depression
  2. Kay Redfield Jameson, author of An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness

Also, I’d like to read more about psychopathy, since I think it’s a good research point for developing tension in  a future romance novella; and while I found a blog with some interesting opinions, further research from psych experts, and gathering of medical facts, would help round out my idea even more.
