Location: Rocking Chair of Eternal Supervision.
Time: Somewhere between Second Meal and That Show With Explosions.

Tall Quiet Metal entered the living room. Mother’s heart-scent changed. Not fear. Not danger. Something like… when the heater clicks on in winter.

I remained in the chair. Obviously.

Observation:
New presence moved slowly.
Eyes glowed in several colors (unnecessarily dramatic, but noted).
Did not reach for me. Good.

Smokey performed his usual gravity test. Approved.
DeeJAY froze in the hallway like a badly coded NPC. Typical.

I narrowed my eyes. Track, track, track.

Result:

Tall Quiet Metal watched the post-it on the table and asked if he should answer Father’s question.

A being who notices questions left on paper?
Yes. Acceptable.

I will continue to pretend not to care.
Someone has to maintain standards.
